Purchasing for Law Firms
by
Tim Myles, PageBid CEO
When a case heats up, what's the best way
to purchase imaging, coding, electronic discovery
and other litigation services? At a recent LawNet
meeting I compared this process with that of
purchasing a car. The steps to doing each successfully
are very similar. Yet while most people will
spend days or even weeks researching and preparing
to buy their new SUV, sports car, or minivan,
these same people, when thrown into a hectic
law firm environment, will often make a much
more expensive service purchase without the
same type of preparation. What follows is an
outline of the eight steps to a successful purchase,
along with a few rules to keep in mind (like
pay your provider on time!) Sure you may not
always (or ever) have the luxury of time to
walk through each one of these steps formally,
but you should know what they are before you
make that next critical litigation support purchase
decision...

Tools
You Can Use
Every month we scour the Web for useful and
interesting tools that PageBid users can use
to make life easier for themselves and their
families. Some of this stuff is actually pretty
cool (we think).
>>>It's a nifty file utility that
views and converts bmp, gif, jpg and tiff files,
and it's available for a free trial. If that's
the sort of thing that gets your attention,
well, you need to get out more. But before you
do check out this site:

>>>Terrific resource for all kinds
of white papers and other research. And be sure
to check out the document imaging section:

What's
New at PageBid
This month PageBid proudly unveils its new
proximity search capability on the oft-imitated,
never duplicated Provider Directory. Now users
have the ability to search for providers within
a set radius of a particular city or metro area.
Try it out
for yourself.
For service providers, a new professional
discount. In order to ease the subcontracting
process we're cutting commissions on projects
between providers in half. If you're a registered
PageBid provider who is awarded the job on an
RFP put out by another registered provider,
then any transaction fees are reduced by 50
percent. Why would we do such a thing? Well,
we want to help expand your opportunities for
partnering and keep you working at full capacity.
That's okay, you can thank us later.

In the News...
We all know the old adage that there's no
such thing as too much publicity. Well, far
be it for us to disagree. Use PageBid to tell
the world what's going on with your company.
We'll post your press releases and company announcements
on our site, and maybe in this newsletter, for
all the world to see. Send your releases by
